Grizzly family

A family of Grizzly Bears has been spotted high in the southern Selkirks. Do you want to see if we can find them? This invitation from Derek Kite did not require a second bidding.

Alongside a dirt road high in the mountains there was a sow and her three cubs.

The sow slowly grazed her way up the slope, eventually vanishing into cloud.

Her cubs followed.

I always wonder from where photographers shoot grizzly bears, and from how powerful a lens. Especially a mother and cubs!

Rebecca, I cannot speak for others, but these pictures were taken from a distance of about 300 metres and while standing beside a vehicle. We didn’t even flirt with danger and the family of grizzlies gave no indication that it knew we were watching from afar.
