Mountain Goats

Mountain Goats are found only in the mountains of western North America and the majority of them are in British Columbia.

With such a large and unusual creature in our midst, an occasional visit is in order. Indeed, the sighting of a Pygmy Owl was actually just happenstance on the jaunt to find Mountain Goats.

The fact that Mountain Goats are easiest to spot on a bare mountain face soon became evident: after only a few pictures, they all vanished from view in a snow storm.

Love the goats with their beautiful winter coats, ready for that snow storm! And the Pygmy Owl; just stunning. What a great excursion. Terrific photos all. You never cease to amaze.

Marie, in 1962, Pablo Picasso did a linocut entitled, BACCHANAL WITH GOAT AND OWL. Ours was not a bacchanal, but we did manage to get two thirds along the way.

I confess, you set me on a hunt for Picasso’s linocut; and can report I prefer your realism. Never much for the abstract, I. Checked the Balfour ferry landing web cam. Looks like slushy snow will turn to ice tonight. Although we coastal denizens live in a state of winter denial, all must admit it’s frosty here too. A little of Picasso’s fortified ‘grape’ would not go amiss in either locale tonight. Stay warm Alistair.
