Today, I saw two. They were three kilometres apart (as the grouse flies).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first grouse to be seen was, to my mind, comical. It moved at the grouse&#8217;s stately pace. Normally, this allows it to move inconspicuously through brush. Alas, the tactic did it no good as it moved across a snow field.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-10067\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/ruffedgrouse140323bs.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The second grouse was the same female shown in\u00a0<a title=\"Replacement grouse\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=9835\">replacement grouse<\/a> and <a title=\"Stealthy birds\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=10038\">stealthy birds<\/a>. Now, she appears to be sitting on a nest.
