{"id":12089,"date":"2014-11-30T16:25:54","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T00:25:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=12089"},"modified":"2014-11-30T17:24:21","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T01:24:21","slug":"miscellaneous-birds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=12089","title":{"rendered":"Miscellaneous birds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Herein is a collection of birds photographed in November, none of which managed to have a posting of its\u00a0own (unlike the <a title=\"Bohemian invasion\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=12041\">waxwings<\/a> and the <a title=\"Feisty Pygmy\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=12076\">owl<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This female Harlequin Duck was seen on November 10 at Kokanee Creek. This was odd in that these ducks normally have left the\u00a0area by late August.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12090\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/harlequin141110s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the American Wigeon is a common winter resident. This is a male.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12091\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/wigeon141103s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Hooded Merganser is seen in the winter, but is not common. This is a female.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12092\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/hoodedmerganser141103s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0female Common Goldeneye is often seen at this time of year.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12093\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/commongoldeneye141124s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This juvenile Pied-billed Grebe is probably just passing through the region.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12094\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/piedbilledgrebe141127s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We have dippers year round.
