The Bohemian Waxwing visits in the winter (see last November&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=12041\">bohemian invasion<\/a>). Consequently, we are unlikely to see it nest around Kootenay Lake. The Cedar Waxwing arrives in the summer, nests and raises chicks.<\/p>\n<p>A small flock of Cedar Waxwings was seen on Wednesday, but rarely did any of them pose for a picture.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13961\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/cedarwaxwing150617bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A female was seen building a nest, a task that takes most of a week and a few thousand trips ferrying in material.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13962\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/cedarwaxwing150617as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; We have two waxwings, nicely separated by seasons.
