Then, the fish was contested and eaten: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=14487\">eagle feast and fight<\/a>. Finally, an eagle entered the water where it bathed and dried itself.<\/p>\n<p>The eagle waded into the shallows and vigorously splashed water over itself.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14518\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731ls.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It then twisted back and forth to shake off water as would an otter or a dog.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14519\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731ks.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The drops flew as it continued\u00a0twisting and shaking.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14517\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731ms.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, the wings were flapped to evaporate water from the flight feathers.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14516\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731ns.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With its flight feathers spread and waving, the wings\u00a0are now nearly dry.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14515\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731os.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The time had come to dry the tail and leg feathers by jumping up and down.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14514\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731ps.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sated, clean and dry, the eagle flew\u00a0off leaving only ephemeral marks on the water.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-14513\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/eagle150731qs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This was the first time I had seen an eagle bathe and dry itself.
