BOB is Nelson’s Big Orange Bridge.<\/p>\n

Alas, its\u00a0truss design\u00a0is more functional than lovely. Even when built in 1957, I remember thinking\u00a0that a more beautiful bridge\u00a0would better suit its setting. Curiously, the bridge’s ugliness did not prevent it from becoming — indeed, may have encouraged\u00a0it to become — a local icon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although the truss design suffers from industrial unsightliness, it does offer some interesting mapping projections of a\u00a0full-sphere\u00a0image. I might explore these from\u00a0time to time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
