The sight and sound of hail falling on the Lake is magnificent. Depending upon the size of the hailstones, the sound ranges from a loud hiss to a cacophonous clatter.<\/p>\n<p>Hailstones, ranging in size up to a centimetre in diameter, fell among the begonias.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-17921\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hailstones160715as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While large raindrops hitting the Lake can\u00a0cast up a central tower of water (see, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=5731\">raindrop splash<\/a>), a hailstone seems to merely create craters and toss droplets sideways.
