{"id":18414,"date":"2016-08-23T07:27:56","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T14:27:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=18414"},"modified":"2016-08-24T08:07:05","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T15:07:05","slug":"fish-fete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=18414","title":{"rendered":"Fish fete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When humans, bears and ospreys gather to\u00a0watch the same\u00a0thing, you know that the kokanee are spawning again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The objects of all the interest are spawning kokanee, the speckled, red and green, landlocked sockeye salmon that take over local creeks.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18416\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/kokanee160821s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An osprey, which normally hunts over the Lake, now finds creeks of interest.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18415\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/osprey160821bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It soon flies off with lunch.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18417\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/osprey160821s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To the delight of those\u00a0gathered to watch the spawning kokanee, a black bear worked its way up the channel travelling close to humans on the bank and under those on a footbridge. The bear had only one thing on its mind and offered hardly a sideways glance.
