{"id":20437,"date":"2017-05-11T06:33:08","date_gmt":"2017-05-11T13:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=20437"},"modified":"2017-05-11T06:33:08","modified_gmt":"2017-05-11T13:33:08","slug":"goslings-hatched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=20437","title":{"rendered":"Goslings hatched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The goslings finally hatched.<\/p>\n<p>Three weeks ago, I posted a picture of a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=20165\">goose sitting on a nest<\/a>. \u00a0Since that time, the nest has been frequently checked from a distance to see if the goslings had arrived. During all that time, the gander stood guard, ready to fend off intruders. Meanwhile other families of geese swam by.<\/p>\n<p>The abiding question was: Will <em>our<\/em> goose succeed in hatching goslings or not? This remained uncertain until two goslings appeared yesterday morning.<\/p>\n<p>This is the goose on the nest taken three weeks ago.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20169\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/goose170418s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the long incubation, other families swam past with from two to six goslings. If it is possible to read frustration and envy in the face of <em>our<\/em> gander, it was at these times.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20439\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/goose170504s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally yesterday at noon, the new parents were seen with their two goslings.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20438\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/goose170510bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The goslings finally hatched.
