What could possibly be left over for the end-of-the-month goulash? Many things, it turns out, but I will show only a few of them.<\/p>\n<p>The Chipping Sparrow is a common and widespread bird during our warmer months.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20702\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/chippingsparrow170515s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I see a killdeer eating, it usually consumes insects, but here one is about to down a worm.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20703\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/killdeer170515s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a profile view of the same chipmunk <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=20678\">shown earlier<\/a>. This is the Western.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20706\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/westernkingbird170515s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Northern Shoveler couple swims by (different\u00a0shovelers than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=20339\">shown earlier<\/a>). <br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20714\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/shovelers170504s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is still time to consider goslings as being cute, rather than as poop generators.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20707\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/goose170510as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fallstreaks graced our sky just before a storm.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20708\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/fallstreaks170523s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A muskrat swims by at just below its hull speed.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20709\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/muskrat170509s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We see the Horned Grebe in its non-breeding plumage throughout the winter, but it is rarely seen locally in its breeding plumage because it promptly leaves to breed farther north.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20710\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/hornedgrebre170509s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A black bear (not the same one as shown earlier) has collected seeds on it nose and ears.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20713\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/blackbear170515s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This is the twentieth posting made this month.
