This order of carnivorous insects includes dragonflies and damselflies. These three early-season members were seen in wetlands around the Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, I have seen a Four-spotted Skimmer Dragonfly in <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=1685\">mid-May<\/a>, but early June works.<br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20773\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/fourspottedskimmer170604s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0male Pacific Forktail Damselfly rests on a leaf. This\u00a0is a common and widespread little damselfly that frequents marshes throughout the summer. <br \/>\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-20772\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/pacificforktaildamselfly170604s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is likely a Northern Spreadwing Damselfly.
