We have seen the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=24389\">killdeer<\/a> pass through, however, the killdeer also breeds here. Not so, the Baird&#8217;s Sandpiper. It breeds in the high arctic and winters in South America. Baird&#8217;s visit to the Lake is brief.<\/p>\n<p>A Baird&#8217;s Sandpiper flies to the shore of Kootenay Lake during its migration south.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24406\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/bairdssandpiper180811as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Its first act was to bathe and preen.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24404\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/bairdssandpiper180811cs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then it is time to eat.
