{"id":25346,"date":"2018-12-09T17:29:22","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T01:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=25346"},"modified":"2018-12-09T17:29:22","modified_gmt":"2018-12-10T01:29:22","slug":"trumpeter-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=25346","title":{"rendered":"Trumpeter visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On their annual migration south, Trumpeter Swans are visiting the Lake in threes and fours.<\/p>\n<p>These trumpeters are in the waters beside Kokanee Creek Park. <br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25317\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/trumpeterswan181209as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To my surprise, these swans took flight. The trumpeter is a big bird and must run across the water to pick up the speed necessary to become airborne. This gave me the unusual opportunity to photograph the liftoff. But, why did they take flight?
