This species is not the same as the Common Loon frequently seen around the Lake.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25620\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/pacificloon190125s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These are a few elk out of a much larger herd.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25623\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/elk190112s2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Coyote in the mist <br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25622\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/coyote190112s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Six Trumpeter swans visit the West Arm with three days left in the month.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25627\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/trumpeterswan190129s2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These are frost flowers. This type of frost does not result from vapour cooling, but from vapour mixing. Rather than blanketing ice crystals over the surface, it prompts isolated patches of crystals floating above the ice alongside the Lake.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25628\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/frostflowers190129s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This is a collection of a few images, none of which had its own posting in January.
