When precipitation falls from the thunderstorm anvil into the clear air below, it sometimes drags large pendulous pockets of air down with it. These dark pendulous blobs are called mamma.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-26797\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/mamma190625s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Black-billed Magpie, here caught in flight, is common in some parts of BC, but not here.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-26796\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/magpie190626bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Black-billed Magpies mate for life. During their courtship they use a tail-spreading display.
