Today, I saw a male and female checking each other out. Now, they might have mated had I not travelled by, but who knows.<\/p>\n<p>I managed a satisfactory picture of the female.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32392\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/ruffedgrouse230319bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But the male (raised ruff, spread tail) was behind a tree and promptly left. Oh well, it is springtime so I will keep watching.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32391\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/ruffedgrouse230319as.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As a langniappe, I offer a feasting red squirrel.
