But, the most striking pictures were of them with their wings out.<\/p>\n<p>At one point, both herons took off at the same time, one from a piling, one from the dock.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32720\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/heron230729as2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Again, one heron landed on the piling with wings and tail spread.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32719\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/heron230729cs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And took off into the rising sun.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-32724\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/heron230729bs2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; As the sun was rising, two juvenile Great Blue Herons were hunting from a dock.
