Well in this case, it is also just a few shots while trying out a camera.<\/p>\n<p>One of my first shots was a close view of an osprey rushing by in flight.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33344\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/osprey240526s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A tranquil shot featured four painted turtles on a loafing log.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33340\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/turtles240526s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A yellow-bellied marmot constantly called and raised its tail. I thought it sought a partner, but none appeared. When I looked at the pictures, I realized its problem: constipation.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33341\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/yellowbelliedmarmot240526s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For a while I watched a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=33325\">female Rufous Hummingbird<\/a> and separately a male Black-chinned Hummingbird (another one is shown here). But, these two were all that appeared.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33339\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/blackchinnedhummingbird240524s.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Finally, a male Rufous turned up. It was cloudy so the iridescent red gorget showed rarely.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33345\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/rufoushummingbird240528bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, now and then, the gorget was stunning.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33342\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/rufoushummingbird240528as2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This is a small collection of pictures taken this May which didn\u2019t have a posting of their own.
