{"id":34791,"date":"2025-08-09T18:42:24","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T01:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=34791"},"modified":"2025-08-09T18:42:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T01:42:24","slug":"heron-nest-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=34791","title":{"rendered":"Heron nest, more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A day ago, I posted one picture of two heron chicks in a nest &lt;blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=34785&gt; and said that locally there were, maybe a half-dozen Great Blue Heron nests, but not one was easy to find and all were inaccessibly distant. I revisited the site, but only one nest is marginally photographable. So, here are some more pictures from that nest.<\/p>\n<p>The two heron chicks look at each other.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34797\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/heronnest250807fs2.jpg\" alt=\"\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When they would exercise their wings, they would reveal some white pin feathers on the underside. These feathers are growing and are developing, so have blood flowing through them.
