{"id":4264,"date":"2012-02-22T20:23:12","date_gmt":"2012-02-23T04:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=4264"},"modified":"2012-02-22T20:31:06","modified_gmt":"2012-02-23T04:31:06","slug":"otter-eating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=4264","title":{"rendered":"Otter eating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two postings in a row about otters&#8212;now that is unusual.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a title=\"Otter ablutions\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=4245\">first<\/a>,\u00a0I mentioned the otter&#8217;s use of\u00a0a dock for its grooming, but allowed that it also used docks for eating. Two days later, the otter returned to substantiate my point. It brought along a fish and ate it on the same dock.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the otter kept her back to me most of the time. Yet, here are three pictures of the visit.<\/p>\n<p>The otter arrives on the dock with a fish. By the time I spotted it, fish remnants are held between the paws.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4267\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/otter120221as.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These were quickly lifted to dangle from the mouth.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4266\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/otter120221bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"721\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sated, the otter looks around and prepares to depart, but leaves fish debris around the area.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4265\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/otter120221cs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two postings in a row about otters&#8212;now that is unusual.
