{"id":539,"date":"2010-11-24T17:27:12","date_gmt":"2010-11-25T01:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=539"},"modified":"2010-12-26T14:37:55","modified_gmt":"2010-12-26T22:37:55","slug":"sprites-dogs-devils","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=539","title":{"rendered":"Sprites, dogs &#038; devils"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The outbreak of cold air following a cold front set the stage for today&#8217;s events. the Lake had:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/kootenay-lake.ca\/weather\/steamfoglake\/index.html\">Steam fog<\/a>\u2014a crowd of evanescent sprites that raced across the water surface.<\/li>\n<li>Steam devils\u2014whorl winds that towered over the fog (same link as steam fog).<\/li>\n<li>Sun dogs\u2014parhelia, a type of <a href=\"http:\/\/kootenay-lake.ca\/lightplay\/haloes\/index.html\">halo<\/a> caused by sunlight and ice crystals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This morning&#8217;s steam fog was as grand as one gets; the steam devil (below) was nice but not as grand as <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=210\">those of last December<\/a> (but, then the season is still young).
