{"id":6255,"date":"2012-08-28T20:15:27","date_gmt":"2012-08-29T03:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=6255"},"modified":"2012-08-29T18:21:34","modified_gmt":"2012-08-30T01:21:34","slug":"kokanee-keep-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=6255","title":{"rendered":"Kokanee keep coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Kootenay Lake naturalist&#8217;s year is marked by many events: irruptive finches in the winter, migrating swans in the spring, the return of humming birds and ospreys, the freshet, pollinating insects, the arrival of black bears in the valleys in the late summer, the first steam fog of the fall, the arrival of snow.<\/p>\n<p>One event stands out: in late summer, the Kokanee salmon spawn. Locals and tourists flock to marvel at waters that flow red with fish.<\/p>\n<p>A bit over a week ago, I posted a <a title=\"Kokanee spawning\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=6174\">single picture<\/a> of the early stages of the Kokanee salmon spawning run.
