{"id":6329,"date":"2012-09-14T10:10:54","date_gmt":"2012-09-14T17:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=6329"},"modified":"2012-09-14T21:06:13","modified_gmt":"2012-09-15T04:06:13","slug":"park-walks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=6329","title":{"rendered":"Park walks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now that Labour Day has passed, one can walk through the meadows and marshes of Kokanee Creek Park and meet only wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>Below are a few interesting things seen on two recent walks.<\/p>\n<p>Great Blue Herons appeared in trees, water, and air.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6337\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/heron120906s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/>This Cedar Waxwing was one of many small birds.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6330\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/cedarwaxwing120906s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ospreys have yet to leave; this one watched the fish in the creek.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6331\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/osprey120906s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although deer are not seen as often as are their tracks, a white-tailed fawn was spotted (chuckle).<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6332\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/fawn120906s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dragonflies abounded. Here is a pair of mating darners. The male is the bluish one.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6335\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/darnermating120913s2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An adult Bald Eagle patrolled the mouth of the creek,<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6333\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/eagle120913cs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>while two juvenile Bald Eagles sat in a tree overlooking the creek.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6334\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/eagle120913bs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The most satisfying picture taken was of a juvenile Bald Eagle circling overhead.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6336\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/eagle120913as2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Now that Labour Day has passed, one can walk through the meadows and marshes of Kokanee Creek Park and meet only wildlife.
