{"id":9536,"date":"2014-01-14T17:36:27","date_gmt":"2014-01-15T01:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=9536"},"modified":"2014-01-18T08:46:26","modified_gmt":"2014-01-18T16:46:26","slug":"pygmy-owl-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=9536","title":{"rendered":"Pygmy Owl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A month and a half ago, I posted my first pictures of the season of a <a title=\"Bird on a wire\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/?p=9154\">Northern Pygmy Owl<\/a>, and expressed the hope to see this winter visitor to the valleys again before the season was over. Indeed I did see it, but always from a distance that didn&#8217;t favour satisfactory images.<\/p>\n<p>Today, towards the end of the season, I watched a Pygmy Owl hunting along the lakeshore. It would perch and watch from one spot. If it found nothing, it would fly maybe 30 metres along the shore and look again.<\/p>\n<p>When spotted, this Pygmy Owl was hunting beside the Harrop Ferry landing.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9538\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/pygmyowl140114as.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It soon shifted to the other side of the landing, hunted for few minutes, and then moved on again.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9537\" onclick=\"return false\" onmousedown=\"return false\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.kootenay-lake.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/pygmyowl140114bs.jpg\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I suspect that I won&#8217;t see one many more times this winter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; A month and a half ago, I posted my first pictures of the season of a Northern Pygmy Owl, and expressed the hope to see this winter visitor to the valleys again before the season was over.
