I suppose that I am just partial to otters. This is the fourth time I have seen them this year, and the third time this fall, although I suspect they have been nearby more often. This time four otters came by, but I am only showing two shots: one of an otter approaching, and one of one sitting on a dock.
This otter swam around far off before deciding to approach.
And then one sat up and surveyed its surroundings.
Hi Alistair;
As far as I am concerned, you can post as many otter photos as you like…. Wonderful beings! I remember camping by the shore, part way up the Lower Arrow Lake & my husband commenting day after day about all the strange sounds he was hearing early in the morning as he cast a line off the beach …. eventually, one afternoon, we saw a Mom & 3 young otters out in front of our camp diving & splashing & twittering away… mystery solved! They must have had a den down the way & now Mom was giving some fishing lessons. Thanks, as always for the visual gifts you send… so precious.
Ann
Enjoying your post of enjoying the natural world, Ann…with forever appreciation of Alistair’s marvelous photos and info…and remembering what you & Bud enjoyed together on the shores of Lower Arrow. Lovely to imagine your otter experience…such fun to watch these creatures so good at playing…can teach us something, too!
Remembering another magnificent creature, the GGO…which so delighted my husband finally to observe & photograph in the last year of his life (10 years ago), I offer this info about the Great Grey Owl: https://canadiangeographic.ca/articles/the-impressive-acoustics-of-the-great-grey-owl/
