Sometimes the horizontal format, which I use for most of my pictures, does not suit an image. That is the case for this view of the Ruffed Grouse, a bird whose range seems to include my yard. Both intricacy and beauty demanded a large vertical format.

Thanks to Greg Nesteroff’s article about the train wreck which had your blog link in it, I was able to view your pictures. Wonderful images!! Since I’m new to your blog could you tell me what kind of camera you use please and a little bit of your background. Probably the answers are in the archives but where would I look?
