Antler buds

I had thought that both of my resident deer were female—apparently not.

A male White-tailed Deer shows prominent antler buds while relaxing under the trees.

    Thank you, Alistair, for this excellent picture. I do not remember whether I have ever seen a buck with the antler buds so small. I have seen may a “spike” but not such immature buds.
    I particularly like how you were able to catch his interest in you, the photographer, as you serve our interest and curiosity through the photograph.
