Fairy slippers

May is the month to see fairy slippers (Calypso bulbosa). This orchid is perhaps the loveliest of our wildflowers.

Five of many fairy slippers bloom on a sun-warmed forest slope. Here are three views.

Great detail Alistair. There are places on my property where these grow but you have to hike for them. 🙂

Your incredible photo’s make me yearn to visit the Kootney’s! The fairy slippers are too beautiful for words. You captured the essence of lovliness!

Julia, if you live in rural BC, I am sure that your region is as lovely as is mine. It is merely that you have a glimpse of Kootenay loveliness through my eyes.

Love the detail. Have you ever come across the white calypso orchid?
