Brian, actually skunks are not much of a threat to people. Skunks don’t like to use up their reserves, so if they feel threatened, they offer plenty of warning before firing. People normally just walk away and that is the end of it. The problem is with dogs, who are just too stupid to know when to back off and so continue to challenge a skunk. Almost certainly, anytime you detect a skunk’s oder in Nelson, you know that a (very sorry) dog was involved. In truth, it is probably not the dog’s fault, but our own. By raising a puppy in a human home, its mother has been unable to teach it that it should never challenge a skunk.
A good time to have a really “big” telephoto”.
