Last October, I posted pictures of iridescent clouds with the title of Iris’s art. This gave credit for the variegation to the Greek goddess of the sky.
In like manner, it now seems appropriate to credit this satiny view to Poseidon, the Greek god of the waters.
Hoping for a short note on the provenance of these colours (assuming not surface oils).
Doug, they are merely the colours of rocks, sand, and vegetative debris on the bed of a shallow creek. However, when seen with nice lighting and distorted by surface waves, they have become kaleidoscopic. Actually it was the crinkly waves that first attracted me to the scene, and then I noticed what they did to the appearance of the creek bed.
That would make a beautiful picture for your wall and if not yours…
Claire, an evocative ellipsis.
An admirable alliteration, Alistair. Most beauteous waters. I thought it fishscale soup with a soupçon of clotted cream.
I have just realized in the upper portion of the picture, Poseidon, himself is watching me.
I agree it’s a stunning watercolour.
Grace, cute. I should have thought of the watercolour description myself.
Gosh, that is lovely. Thank you. Irene McI
